The Union of European Clubs is delighted to welcome Belgian side K. Lierse S.K. as the latest member of its growing network of professional clubs across Europe. With 120 years of football tradition, a strong local identity and deep ties to its supporters, Lierse further strengthens UEC’s mission to give clubs of all sizes a meaningful voice in the future of European football.
The Union of European Clubs (UEC) is delighted to welcome Belgian professional club K. Lierse S.K. as the latest member of its growing network of clubs across Europe.
Through its UEC membership, K. Lierse S.K will collaborate with clubs across Europe to develop innovative solutions to address competitive balance, financial fairness, fan accessibility, cultural identity, and environmental responsibility.
Based in the city of Lier, the yellow and black club brings with it one of Belgian football’s most distinctive identities and a history stretching back 120 years.
Lierse was founded in 1906 and first reached Belgium’s top division in 1927. Its historical honours include four Belgian championship titles – in 1932, 1942, 1960 and 1997 – and two Belgian Cups, won in 1969 and 1999. The club also has a notable European history, including a memorable run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in 1971/72.
Today, the club combines that heritage with ambitions for its future. Lierse has outlined a strategy of continuing to develop its sporting operation, academy, training facilities and infrastructure with the longer-term ambition of returning to Belgium’s top division.
UEC is particularly pleased to welcome a club for which history, local identity, supporter connection and player development remain central to its place in football.
